Report on the Lecture Delivered to Hostel Girls

On 27th February 2025, a lecture on ‘Character Building and Handling with Blackmailing’ was delivered to the hostel girls of Government Queen Mary Graduate College, Lahore. The lecture covered a wide range of topic, focusing on the psychosocial, religious, cultural, moral, ethical, and legal aspects of character building and the issue of blackmailing. The resource person emphasized the importance of personal integrity, self-awareness, and building a strong character, which are essential for facing various life challenges, including the dangers of blackmailing. She specifically addressed the Pakistani laws and the punishments related to the protection of women, including the concept of “Chadar and Chardewai”. She explained how these values, deeply rooted in Pakistani society, serve to protect women’s dignity and honor, and how blackmailing, especially in the context of social and cultural pressures, is punishable under law. The lecture also discussed the psychological impact of blackmailing on individuals and how it can lead to feelings of anxiety, helplessness, and isolation. She provided practical advice on how to handle such situations, including seeking support from trusted individuals, understanding one’s legal rights, and approaching law enforcement authorities when necessary. The session was followed by a Question & Answer segment, where students actively engaged with the resource person . The students asked insightful questions related to mental health, personal safety, and coping strategies in situations involving blackmail and manipulation. In conclusion, the lecture was well-received by the hostel girls.
