Overview
The Department of Social Work holds the distinction of being one of the oldest departments at Govt. Queen Mary Graduate College (GQMGC). Throughout its history, dedicated professionals like Ms. Talat, Ms. Cheema, Ms. Nahid, and Ms. Irum Haq have contributed significantly to the growth and development of this subject. Presently, Ms. Aasia Rashid is serving as the Head of the department, leading with utmost dedication since 2018. Under her dynamic leadership, the department achieved a significant milestone by launching the BS (4 Year) degree Program in 2022. This initiative reflects the department’s commitment to providing students with enhanced academic opportunities and empowering them to excel in the field of Social Work.

Studying Social Work offers a broad scope of opportunities to make a meaningful impact on individuals and communities. Graduates can work in diverse fields, such as social services, healthcare, education, community development, and mental health. The vision of the Social Work department is to create an empowering and inclusive environment where students can discover their potential, develop life skills, and gain self-belief. The mission is to provide comprehensive support through personalized counseling, career assessments, and workshops that align with individual interests. Social work is a practice-based profession and an academic discipline that prioritizes human well-being and aims to help meet basic and complex needs of all people, with a particular focus on those who are vulnerable, oppressed, and living in poverty. Social work differs from other professions because it focuses both on the person and their environment. Social Work department has been producing active talented students who are serving in the field of social welfare overall in the country.
Objectives

Program offer
- We are offering BS program. It is 4-year program affiliated with The University of Punjab.
- Social work also offering as a minor subject in different social sciences BS program in semester I to IV like in Psychology.
- We are also offering this subject as an elective subject in ADP program.
Admission Criteria
- ● Admission Committee is responsible for admission to ADP and BS Social Work.
- ● Advertisement in Newspapers and on College website will be displayed.
Form Submission
- ● College Prospectus and admission form will be available from the college office.
Scrutiny of Forms
- ● After the submission of the form, concerned department may scrutinize the forms according to the college merit, under the supervision of the Admission Committee.
Eligible Candidates
- ● All ccandidates who have done their Intermediate (with any combination of subjects) are eligible to apply. ● Students securing 3rd Division in Intermediate Examination are not eligible to apply.
