Queen Mary Graduate College established Department of Zoology in 1966 after attaining the status of a Degree College.
BS classes in the subject of Zoology started in 2014 and since then many zoologists have been passed out from this esteemed organisation.
This department has the honor to be headed by Dr Salma and Dr Shahida Azhar. Currently Zoology department is enthusiastically working under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Nadia Dar.

Scope
Zoology as a subject is multidisciplinary in nature involving studies of organisms and their genetic, morphological and physiological attributes, their surrounding environment, and role in conservation of environment. This subject has significant role in human resource development, food security, environmental conservation, sustainable development and ultimately in alleviation of poverty. The BS in Zoology is an undergraduate degree program that is designed to produce qualified zoologists/professionals who are able to make meaningful contribution in enhancing understanding about zoological issues of Pakistan. This program is a blend of theoretical and practical knowledge to equip students with current data in this field. This is achieved through providing high quality education and training to our students. It is a multidisciplinary program comprising of 137 credit hours to be completed in eight semesters. Apart from compulsory and basic courses, this program consists of major and minor courses, including internship and research thesis. This BS Zoology (4 Years) Program is being offered at the Department of Zoology and is affiliated with University of The Punjab Lahore.

Objectives
The objective of this degree program is to create undergraduates in core subjects of Zoology with wide-ranging theoretical, practical, and methodological competencies to enable them:
a. Acquire knowledge about the major disciplines of Zoology. It will enable the students to understand the principles of organizations and inter- relationships in the biological systems with particular reference to animal diversity.
b. To teach different methods of exploration, investigation, organization of biological data and its utilization in practical life.
c. To equip the students with knowledge and skills for better planning and management of animal resources, environment, health, medicine, agriculture and population in the country.
d. To develop the scientific culture and demonstrate professional skills in teaching / research/ administrative positions in wide range of professions in national and international organizations.
e. To enable the students to professionally excel in the zoological field through meeting today’s market requirements.

Program offer
The program objectives will be achieved by implementation and execution of the curriculum. The following elements of strategic plan will be followed to achieve the program mission and objectives:
The curriculum comprises of Core subjects and Elective subjects. In the first three Semester (I-III), the students learn the compulsory courses, foundation courses of Zoology and general courses to be chosen from other disciplines (Chemistry, Computer Sciences, Mathematics, Botany etc.) as approved by the Punjab university. In the Semesters IV-VIII, the students study the breadth and advanced courses of Zoology.
Concept building: through laboratory work, applying theoretical knowledge.
Internships : institutes related to research such as PCSIR,INMOL, CEMB and CAMB . Shaukat Khanum Hospital and many other renowned medical labs offer internships to our students.
Co-curricular activities: like academic clubs, participating in national and international competitions and exhibitions.
CURRICULUM DESIGN AND ORGANIZATION
● The curriculum followed for the BS Zoology Program at Govt. Queen Mary Graduate College is approved by the academic committees of Institute of Zoology, University of the Punjab and is designed following the HEC guidelines. Addition of new courses and amendments in syllabi from time to time is approved by Board of Studies, Board of Faculty of Science, Academic Council and finally University Syndicate.
Admission Criteria
- ● Admission Committee is responsible for admission.
- ● Advertisement in Newspapers and on College website will be displayed.
Form Submission
- ● College Prospectus and admission form will be available from the college office.
Scrutiny of Forms
- ● After the submission of the form, concerned department may scrutinize the forms according to the college merit, under the supervision of the Admission Committee.
Eligible Candidates
- ● All ccandidates who have done their Intermediate (with any combination of subjects) are eligible to apply. ● Students securing 3rd Division in Intermediate Examination are not eligible to apply.
