REPORT ON WORLD FOOD DAY CELEBRATION
To mark World Food Day, the Department of Home Economics organized a grand event featuring a Bake Sale, Interactive Games, and a Digital Poster Competition. The event aimed to promote awareness around global food security, sustainability, and community engagement.
The event commenced at 10:30 AM with a formal inauguration by the Worthy Principal, who presided over the occasion as the Chief Guest. In her opening address, she commended the Department of Home Economics for highlighting key global issues through engaging student activities.
Bake Sale & Games: Students prepared and showcased a variety of culinary creations at the bake sale. A series of interactive games was also organised, adding an element of fun and healthy competition to the festivities.
Digital Poster Competition: A major highlight of the event was the Digital Poster Competition, which challenged students to create digital artwork around three vital themes:
- Theme I: Zero Hunger: Our Shared Responsibility
- Theme II: Waste Less, Feed More
- Theme III: Food Safety – From Farm to Fork
The Chief Guest personally evaluated the digital poster submissions across all three categories. Position holders in each theme were awarded recognition for their creative expressions and alignment with the event’s objectives.
The event was warmly received and enthusiastically attended by both faculty members and students. Combining education, awareness, and recreation, the celebration of World Food Day concluded on a highly positive and inspiring note.
