A seminar on prevention and treatment of drugs abuse was organised by the Anti-narcotics monitoring committee at Govt Queen Mary Graduate College, Lahore on 13th December, 2023.
Dr. Muhammad Mussaffa Butt, an assistant professor at GC University, Lahore, specializes in psychology, focusing on substance abuse and Forensic Psychology. Trained at the University of Oxford, he collaborates with Prof. Ronald Rohner at the University of Connecticut and has published research in prestigious journals like Memory and Nature Human Behavior, participated as speakers while some faculty members and large number of students were also present on this occasion.
The Spearker said that Saying no to drugs is a crucial decision for maintaining physical and mental well-being. It promotes a healthier and more responsible lifestyle, reducing the risks associated with substance abuse.
The spearker highlighted why people may turn to drugs, and discussed few of the reasons which includes stress, the desire to escape challenges, peer pressure, socialization needs, or underlying mental health issues
Dr. Muhammad Mussaffa Butt also delves into the types of drugs used in Pakistan, categorizing them into classes like A, B, and C. This includes substances such as Cannabis, ice, heroin, and more. He also elaborated the outcomes associated with the consumption of these different classes of drugs.
