Visit of Honourable Minister of Higher Education, Rana Sikandar Hayat, to Govt. Queen Mary Graduate College

On 11th September 2024, the Honourable Minister of Higher Education, Rana Sikandar Hayat, visited Govt. Queen Mary Graduate College Lahore, accompanied by Parliamentary Secretary for Higher Education, Mr. Muhammad Ajmal Khan, DPI Colleges, Dr. Syed Ansar Azhar, and Director Colleges, Prof. Ahsan Mukhtar, underscoring the significance of the visit.
The guests received a warm and cordial welcome from the esteemed Principal, Prof. Dr. Sidra Aamir, who presented a bouquet of flowers. The visit began with a tour of the Senior School, where the Minister observed classrooms and engaged directly with students. He discussed their academic interests and listened to their concerns, providing them a valuable opportunity to connect with a key educational leader.
He then proceeded to visit the Science Laboratories and Home Economics Lab, where he observed students engaged in practical activities. The Minister expressed his appreciation for the interactive learning environment and praised the efforts of both students and faculty for emphasizing experiential learning.
A highlight of the tour was the visit to the Cambridge Section. The Minister was impressed by the quality and affordability of the program, expressing his keen interest in supporting its development and expansion to ensure accessible quality education.
During his inspection of the Junior Section building, the Minister noted the urgent need for renovation. He pledged to allocate funds for infrastructure improvements, demonstrating his commitment to enhancing the learning environment.
Throughout the visit, Rana Sikandar Hayat commended the college for its emphasis on both academic and co-curricular excellence. Principal Dr. Sidra Aamir provided an overview of her initiatives since assuming charge, highlighting efforts to overcome financial and developmental challenges. The Minister acknowledged her dedication and assured her of continued government support.
The visit concluded with the Minister reaffirming his commitment to upgrading the college’s facilities and supporting its mission to deliver quality education.
