An Anti-Beggary Seminar was organized at Government Queen Mary Graduate College, Lahore, on 20th of November, 2025, to raise awareness about the harmful effects of beggary and to encourage collective efforts for its elimination.
The seminar was arranged by the Anti-Beggary Committee of Government Queen Mary Graduate College, which includes Dr. Shazia Aslam, Ms. Aniqa Haider, Ms. Shahzadi Zubaida and Ms. Saima Mukhtar. QMC Management, Girl Guides and students from various disciplines and classes attended the event.
The Seminar started with Tilawat-e-Quran, followed by Naat-e-Rasool ﷺ after which the participants made speeches about the fatal effects that beggary and its relevant institutions can have on a country’s economical, social, moral and educational development. They emphasized that beggary is not merely an individual issue but a societal challenge that undermines social progress and human dignity.
After the participants had presented their points, the Seminar was concluded by the Focal Person of Anti-Beggary Committee, Dr. Shazia Aslam, who informed the seminar attendees about the corrosive yet less-highlighted aspects of beggary and emphasized that this curse can only be eliminated if everyone plays their role fairly. The event ended with playing of the national anthem.
